IRON MAN #1 Comes Early To New York Comic Con!
Brooklyn's finest, Bulletproof Comics, will have a booth at NYCC that you cannot miss: Damion Scott, Matt Bors, me! Here's my signing schedule
Edited by Sam Thielman
CAN YOU NOT WAIT FOR IRON MAN #1? Me neither. How is it not October 23 yet? It's driving me crazy, not being able to talk about this book.
Well, if you'll be at New York Comic Con, you won't have to experience the shakes, the chills and the other symptoms of Iron Deficiency during that long final week before the debut issue drops. That's because Hank Kwon from Bulletproof Comics has secured the all-clear from Mighty Marvel Comics to sell IRON MAN#1 early—exclusively at NYCC!
And it's coming with my signature attached—because I'll be at Bulletproof's booth, signing and yapping away, all four days of the con!
That's not even the half of it. Bulletproof is going to be the retailer booth to check out at NYCC. Who else is going to be signing? None other than Batman/ Web of Spider-Man/ All-New Ghost Rider/etc artist-writer Damion Scott! [His issue of Solo is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen—Sam.] Who else? The legendary political cartoonist currently taking comics by storm with smash hits Justice Warriors: Vote Harder and the relaunch of Toxic Avenger, issue 1 of which goes on sale tomorrow—Matt Bors! Who else? A very special guest who is also taking comics by storm, and who might be signing at the same time as me, which will be a lot of fun should it come to pass—but that news, unfortunately, is not yet confirmed by press time.
I can only speak to my own schedule, so here's when I'll be hanging out and signing at the Bulletproof booth—BOOTH #4000. Please note: this is not in artists' alley! This is on the main retailer floor.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17: 12pm-3pm
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18: 12pm-2pm, 6pm-7pm
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19: 12pm-2pm, 6pm-7pm
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20: 12pm-3pm
And of course, Iron Man #1 will be there! For the exclusive early issue and my signature, it's going to be $15, and will include a Certificate of Authenticity! Any other item of mine not on sale at the Bulletproof table—your copy of WALLER VS. WILDSTORM, REIGN OF TERROR, maybe a piece of journalism of mine, whatever—will be $10 for a signature.
And of course, we'll be talking about whatever you want to talk about! (Within reason.) In addition to comics, I will likely want to discuss the MLB postseason and what will by that point be the start of the NBA season, should that interest you! Plus, if you're local, let's see who else, in a week and a half, the Adams mayoralty sheds, since Monday alone saw the departures of senior aides/cooperating witnesses Winnie Greco and Rana Abbasova—and crooked cop/deputy mayor Philip Banks! And in the last hour, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams charged City Hall official Mohamed Bahi with trying to obstruct their investigations into Adams by "ordering third parties to lie to federal agents and deleting potentially incriminating correspondence from his personal electronic devices." [He did the latter during a raid!—Sam.] Imagine where Team Adams will be by late-next-week!
OK, no journalism today, since I've got to finish the script for IRON MAN #6, and my lawyer informs me that today we're filing suit against the FBI to get records relevant to THE TORTURE AND DELIVERANCE OF MAJID KHAN. But I want to try to do one more newsletter this week, because it's very likely next week—the week of NYCC—I just won't have time. We'll find out!
WALLER VS. WILDSTORM, the superhero spy thriller I co-wrote with my friend Evan Narcisse and which the masterful Jesús Merino illustrated, is available for purchase in a hardcover edition! If you don't have single issues of WVW and you want a four-issue set signed by me, they're going fast at Bulletproof Comics!
No one is prouder of WVW than her older sibling, REIGN OF TERROR: HOW THE 9/11 ERA DESTABILIZED AMERICA AND PRODUCED TRUMP, which is available now in hardcover, softcover, audiobook and Kindle edition. And on the way is a new addition to the family: THE TORTURE AND DELIVERANCE OF MAJID KHAN.
